THE MUSEUM OF DACIAN AND ROMAN CIVILISATION (DEVA) - MEMBER - OF THE NATIONAL MUSEUMS NETWORK OF ROMANIA






     The Museum of Dacian and Roman Civilisation organises between 6 – 30 April 2009 the temporary exhibition “Values of the National Heritage – Restoration and Restitution”.
     In the framework of the exhibition are presented paintings, icons on wood and old books, objects which recently were subject to a detailed restoration process, throughout which gained back their former appearance and glitering. All the artefacts presented in here belong to the collection of the museum in Deva. Among the most representative objects exhibited there are a series of education manuals from the 19th century (Visarion Roman – Aritmetica [The Arithmetics] printed at Sibiu in 1858; Zaharia Boiu – Carte de cetire [Reading book], published at Sibiu in 1869; Alessandru M. Micu – Elemente de fisica [Elements of Physics] printed at Blaj in 1866 etc.), old Romanian books (e.g. Octoih – Bucharest, 1720; Carte romaneasca de invatatura [Romanian Book of Learning] – Iati, 1643; Triod [Prayer Book for the Easter Fast] – Ramnic, 1731; Apostol [Apostle] - Blaj, 1802 etc.), paintings (19th century – anonymous – The Baron Nopsca Ferencz; Zemplnyi Tivadar – The Baron Szentkereszti Gyorgy etc.), icons painted on wood (anonymous – Praznicar, 18th century; Domenico Zampieri – The Adoration of the Magi, 17th century; Ilie Zugravul – Iisus invatator, 18th century, Wallachia; Preda Zugravul – The Mother of God with the Child, 18th century, Wallachia; Stan Zugravul – Saint Nicholas Nicolae, 18th century, Transylvania etc.).
     The exhibition aims to provide for the public an insight in the cultural-artistic ambient of the 17th – 19th centuries, presenting both the authors of these works of art, but also the contemporary specialist who managed to regaing throughout a careful restoration the former glory of these artefacts.
     The exhibition can be daily visited, from 10.00 a.m. to 18.00 p.m., except Mondays. The price of a ticket is 3 lei for adults and 1,5 lei for pupils, students, militaries, retired persons and persons with disabilities.
